Spring Is Here! Refresh your front porch with the latest and cutest spring doormats
A few years ago I decided to refresh my front door mat situation. I followed the adorable trend of layering a larger outdoor rug with a smaller, decorative doormat on top — and I love the look. Layering makes my front stoop feel like an extension of the home and instantly brightens an otherwise bland entryway.

For the colder months I used a typographical doormat that read “Come in + Get cozy.” It was perfect for dreary weather and it looked warm and inviting without being over the top. I paired it with a black-and-cream plaid outdoor rug in a 2’7″ x 5′ size, which fit my front stoop beautifully.

While photographing a new spring wreath, I realized “get cozy” didn’t quite match the warmer weather we’re enjoying. I decided it was time to swap the winter mat for something lighter and fresher for spring. - Subtle color pops: Neutral backgrounds with a single accent color (sage, navy, or coral) create a fresh focal point that complements most door colors.
- Durable woven textures: Coir or weather-resistant woven mats are great for high-traffic entries and look homey while holding up to spring showers and pollen.
- Layering with an outdoor rug: Keep a larger patterned rug underneath and change the top mat seasonally for an easy, polished update.
I’m still deciding which one will be my favorite this spring — there are so many cute options! When I pick, I may include it in my upcoming spring home tour.
