This year I pulled together pieces I already owned, combined with a few items that had been waiting in my summer decor collection. The result is a layered mantel that feels fresh and coastal without a lot of effort. You can recreate this look by mixing a strong focal piece, natural textures, and soft coastal colors.
A few of the pieces on my mantel were purchased earlier in the season and some were long-held items that finally found their spot. I used a DIY framed canvas photo as the anchor, added sculptural objects like a sailor’s knot and starfish, and finished with simple greenery to balance the arrangement.

DIY Framed Canvas Art as a Mantel Anchor
The canvas I used was a simple, handmade framed print created from a photograph I took. DIY framed canvas art is an affordable and personal way to set the tone for a seasonal mantel. You can use a photo, a fabric print, or paint a simple coastal scene—framing it in reclaimed wood or a distressed frame enhances the beachy vibe.
