I haven’t needed cord solutions often over the years because much of my furniture either hid cords naturally or I contained them in baskets. Recently, however, new bedside nightstands with an open lower shelf created a fresh cord challenge that pushed me to find a quick fix.

Basket for Cord Storage in the Office
For desks and workspaces, hiding power strips and cords inside a decorative basket or woven container keeps everything neat and accessible. I use a round extension cord tucked into the bottom of a basket under my floating desk. The basket’s open weave lets me route plugs through while concealing the bulk of the cables and power strip.
You can also use cable sleeves, zip ties or Velcro straps to group cords together, and label both ends of important cables so you can quickly identify devices. For heavy-duty needs, a surge protector with a long cord hidden inside a container is a practical option that also protects devices.
