With less than a week until Christmas, I wanted to share photos of my decorated office before the big day arrived. This corner felt like the perfect spot for a tree—out of the way, yet visible from the front windows.

I actually set this tree up before Thanksgiving because I wanted at least one decorated tree visible from the front of the house. In our previous home I always placed a large tree in the prominent dining room window. In this house, the front presents several smaller windows, so I chose one corner in the office for a single tree.

I styled the tree to coordinate with the brass-and-blush palette already established in the office. A cream-and-taupe plaid ribbon I’ve had for years tied everything together perfectly. Over the past few seasons I’ve changed the ribbon and added a handmade bow for the topper, but the overall feminine color story has stayed consistent, and I still enjoy it every year.
I didn’t start this project with a full set of ornaments for the office. Instead I mixed leftover ornaments from my daughters’ blush tree with a small set of pink glass bulbs I had bought but not used. That combination matched my curtains and created a cohesive, soft look.
I also ordered a set of gold-toned ornaments from a recent collaboration that arrived after they were sold out everywhere; they have a subtle blush or rose-gold hue rather than a strict gold tone, which blends beautifully with the rest of the decorations. If you find ornaments you like, my best advice is to buy extras when you can—they disappear quickly.
A brass tree collar was the finishing touch I wanted to replace my old galvanized metal collar. Rather than buy a new one, I updated the collar I already owned with metallic spray paint in a warm gold tone. One can of Rust-Oleum vintage gold spray paint transformed the galvanized finish into a much more refined brass look—an easy, budget-friendly DIY that gives a high-end effect.
My DIY Tree Collar Update
The tree collar started as a galvanized metal piece I’ve owned since tree collars became popular. While I used to like the farmhouse galvanized look, my current office called for a brass finish. After a light sanding and a couple of thin coats of metallic spray paint, the collar now blends seamlessly with the brass accents in the room.
This simple update is a great reminder that small, inexpensive changes—like painting hardware or accessories—can dramatically change the feel of a space without a big investment.
While unpacking other holiday pieces, I rediscovered a print titled “Wonderful Counselor” that suited the room perfectly. Its soft palette complements the curtains and the overall blush-and-brass scheme, so I hung it between the windows for a gentle seasonal focal point.
Seeing the tree next to my workspace and catching the twinkle of the lights from outside at night makes the room feel cozy and uplifting during busy winter days. The blush and brass accents create a feminine, warm atmosphere that’s both functional and festive.
I’m tempted to keep it up through January—maybe even until February. It feels like a small treat to enjoy the glow a little longer.
