I love it when inspiration arrives unexpectedly—don’t you?
After a rather uninspired attempt at fall decorating on my mantel, I was craving a fresh creative spark.
This past Wednesday morning, I had a friend over for a playdate. While we chased the girls around, traded potty breaks and soothed a few dramatic tears, she mentioned someone had just left a package at my door.
It’s normal for me to receive packages—online shopping is my habit—so I nodded and went on with my morning. When my friend was leaving, I looked down and noticed the box said Farmgirl Flowers. I could hardly contain my excitement.
I’d admired Farmgirl Flowers for months and had been hoping to receive one of their bouquets. I tore the box open immediately to find a stunning arrangement inside. It turned out a thoughtful friend had sent the bouquet as a thank-you for some help I’d given her the week before. Such a sweet surprise!
I first noticed Farmgirl Flowers when someone shared a photo of the company’s daily bouquet. Their concept is simple and brilliant: they design one bouquet each day using American-grown, locally sourced flowers. While the bouquet is offered in a few sizes, customers don’t choose the specific stems—each day’s design is unique. It’s a beautifully curated approach to floral design.
What impressed me most was their sustainability focus. The average flower shop reportedly wastes around 40% of its product, but Farmgirl has worked to reduce waste to under 1%. I’m not affiliated with them—I’m simply a fan of their mission and quality.
They ship throughout the lower 48 states, which makes it easy to send a special bouquet to someone far away. While their prices are higher than a grocery-store dozen, the quality, design and sustainable practices make the cost worthwhile in my opinion.
The bouquet arrived wrapped in recycled burlap, which felt charming and rustic. After trimming the stems at a 45° angle, I placed the flowers in a large vase from Hobby Lobby. The burlap looked so pretty that I wrapped it around the vase to keep that handmade feel in my arrangement.

Once the house was quiet the next morning—the girls at school and my husband at work—I set up a flower-inspired display on my DIY farmhouse dining table. I wanted the centerpiece to feel natural and welcoming, perfect for fall gatherings.
A pop of color came from my turquoise goblets, which I picked up last year from Walmart’s Pioneer Woman line. They add a cheerful contrast to the warm autumn tones. I also included a hand-carved wooden pumpkin and a carved pear I found at Pottery Barn; their craftsmanship added texture and interest to the table.
I layered small touches of fall around the centerpiece—mini white pumpkins, candles, and small ramekins I picked up from Target’s Dollar Spot. Simple accents like buffalo-check name cards and soft candlelight made the table feel cozy and festive.
Even though no guests were coming over that day, I considered packing the whole tablescape for Thanksgiving at my parents’ house. I love the idea of sharing seasonal decor—and the flowers themselves would arrive long before the holiday—so I might send a fresh bouquet to my mom to thank her for hosting the family meal.
