Summer Patio Decor Ideas and a Cheerful DIY Wreath

This week officially kicked off summer swim team season, and our household is all in. My husband is head coach, our oldest daughter is assisting him, and both girls are competing this year. I’m volunteering as the team coordinator, so I’m busy handling schedules, communications, and behind-the-scenes logistics. Between practices, meets, and family life, our days revolve around swimming—planning, packing, driving, and cheering at the pool almost every afternoon. 🏊🏻‍♀️

We also escaped for a brief Memorial Day weekend at the lake. The weather didn’t cooperate as well as we’d hoped; it rained on and off most of the time. Still, we managed a few short boat rides that felt like a breath of fresh air, and it was wonderful to spend a few slower days together despite the sogginess. Even a wet weekend away was a welcome pause from the usual routine.

Coming home felt good, too. As much as I appreciate a change of scenery, I’m ready for the rhythm of summer at home—chaotic and lovely as it is. “Routine” in the summer looks different: feeding growing teens, shuttling to activities, and welcoming friends and family through the door. It’s busy, but full of life and lots of small, happy moments.

Welcome to Home Style Saturday #506, your weekly roundup of fresh summer home inspiration. Today we’re sharing bright DIY ideas, seasonal decorating tips, and practical ways to style indoor and outdoor spaces so your home feels welcoming all season long.
