Shop Affordable Winter Jeans and Cozy Sweaters

I’ve found some great, affordable winter fashion pieces I know you’ll love!

While I enjoy summer, spring and fall, my wardrobe truly comes alive in the colder months. Sweater weather is my favorite—cozy layers, rich textures and easy outfit formulas make getting dressed so much more fun.

Over the past few years I’ve consistently found surprisingly good quality pieces at Walmart—stylish, affordable and comfortable. I even wore a Walmart dress to a cousin’s summer wedding and felt great in it. At about $30, it was an easy win for my closet and my budget.

For reference, I’m 5’7″, usually wear an XL in tops and a 14–16 in jeans, and I wear a size 11 shoe. Last winter I discovered a cozy sweater that quickly became a favorite, so this season I set out to add a few more go-to pieces to my wardrobe.

I was on the hunt for a green sweater for holiday gatherings and winter layering—and I found a winner. I also picked up a few other tops and jeans that paired nicely together and offered several versatile outfit ideas. The tops I chose from the Free Assembly line are well-made and flattering, and the Levi’s-style jeans (straight and bootcut) feel comparable to higher-priced denim.

First up: a mid-weight green cable-knit sweater. It comes in several colors, including a rich merlot, and the weight is ideal for layering under blazers, vests and jackets. I paired it with a pair of flare jeans (size 14 Plus) and wedge faux-leather boots for an easy, polished casual look that works for everyday winter wear and holiday gatherings.

I sized up in this sweater to avoid a clingy fit—going up one size was the right call and gave the sweater a relaxed, comfortable silhouette.

Another favorite I picked up is an oversized cable-knit mock-neck sweater from the Time & Tru line. It’s roomy, warm and pairs perfectly with black leggings for a simple, cozy outfit. I wore mine with socks and Chelsea boots—if you have thicker ankles, consider going up a size in boots. The sweater itself fits true to size and feels very comfortable.

I also found a soft Fair Isle sweater in neutral tones that feels extra cozy and will carry well from the holidays into February and March. The turtleneck is comfortable (not too tight) and I prefer to tuck it slightly for a neater line at the neckline. The Fair Isle sweater runs true to size and pairs beautifully with bootcut jeans and ankle boots.

The bootcut jeans I tried have a nice weight and structure, and the ankle boots I paired with them are comfortable and true to size—great neutral shoes that work with many outfits.

For a dressier daytime holiday look, I selected a heavy-weight satin flutter-sleeve top and straight-leg jeans that I cuffed at the hem. I finished the outfit with a ballet flat slipper that has a subtle gold embellishment. If it’s chilly outside, add a cardigan or a jacket and a festive earring for a complete seasonal look.

There are so many shoe and accessory options to choose from—puffers, boots, sweaters, jeans and more—all at surprisingly good prices. These pieces make it easy to build a warm, stylish winter wardrobe without breaking the bank.
