Happy Monday, friends! We had fall break last week, which meant Coach and Miss A were home most days. While I always enjoy family time, I function best with a bit of routine, so it felt especially good to get everyone back on schedule this morning.
I’ve been excited to share this inspiration board for our baby girl, who will be arriving in just a couple of months. I wanted to lock down the overall look so I can start prepping and gathering pieces for her room—there’s still plenty to do, but making a plan was the first step!
This board has been months in the making. I followed my own approach for starting a room makeover: identify the essentials first—crib, dresser that doubles as a changing table, and a comfortable rocker or glider with an ottoman. Those pieces form the foundation of the nursery; everything else layers in color and personality.
I’m aiming for a sweet, colorful woodland theme with a whimsical feel. Coach loves the outdoors and hunting, so although we don’t have a son yet, I thought a subtle outdoor motif would be a lovely nod to him and create a peaceful, nature-inspired environment for our daughter.
I kept things practical—he’s not particular about the decor—but in my mind it’s a cute little connection between daddy and daughter. I saved and curated ideas on a private Pinterest board while I was narrowing down styles and pieces. Now that the inspiration board is ready, I may make that board public so others can see additional items that didn’t make the final layout.
The starting point for this room were two charming prints I found by Lay Baby Lay—the Deer & Mouse print and the Raccoon & Armadillo print. Their nursery artwork is consistently inspiring and helped set the mood for color and scale in the room. I love the gentle, storybook quality of these illustrations.
I admire the Restoration Hardware baby collection, but I’m not planning to invest in all-new high-end furniture when we already own pieces that can be refinished. My plan is to repaint Miss A’s existing crib and dresser to get a similar refined finish—hopefully a practical DIY that still feels polished. If the makeover turns out well, I’ll share a tutorial.
We already have a glider for nighttime feedings and rocking, but I’m tempted by one of the Best Storytime chairs for its comfort and adaptable style; it transitions nicely into adult living spaces once the nursery phase is over. The idea would be to keep our current glider and add a new, more grown-up chair to the bedroom or living area. For now, I’m saving up and weighing options—maybe it will be a holiday gift!
