Miss A’s Pink and Turquoise Nursery Reveal

Welcome to Miss A’s room. I can hardly believe she’s almost two and that I finally finished the nursery exactly how I envisioned. After moving into a new house and driving to Atlanta to pick up IKEA shelving, this space became a collected, long-term labor of love. The result is a cheerful pink and turquoise nursery with thoughtful touches, smart storage, and handmade accents that will grow with her.

One of my favorite DIY projects for the room started as an Instagram photo collage. The original chevron background felt too busy for this space, so I removed it, rotated the frame, and added jute string for a softer, more natural look—something I’ve seen used beautifully on many blogs and Pinterest boards. Now the piece serves as a rotating photo display; I’ll add more pictures as I collect tiny clothespins and family snapshots.

Storage was a priority, so I chose an IKEA Expedit unit. It was straightforward to assemble, feels very sturdy, and provides versatile compartments for books, toys, baskets, and keepsakes. The shelving helps keep the room organized and visually balanced while allowing the pink and turquoise accents to shine.

Throughout the room I mixed store-bought pieces with handmade details to create a layered, welcoming feel. Soft pom-poms, hoop-framed fabrics, and small bird-themed canvases add texture and personality without overwhelming the palette. A central art piece above the crib anchors the space, while curtains and textiles introduce subtle pattern and movement.

The paint color is a soft, warm cream that keeps the room bright and cozy while allowing the pink and turquoise accents to stand out. Small, meaningful prints—like a “You Are Loved” piece—reinforce the nurturing atmosphere and personalize the space for our little girl.
